Anti-Acne Product Reviews

July 15th, 2008

Besides all the prescription drugs I’ve been given over the years, I’ve also tried out a bunch of over the counter products from the local pharmacy’s skin care selection.

I put together my personal opinions of all those face washes, medicated creams, scrubs, rubs, oils, gels, pads, soaps and skin care “systems” on this new page.

I’ve also included helpful tips on how to best use each anti-acne product and also reviews of the prescription drugs I have used in the past.

Acne Drug Guide & Information

July 14th, 2008

There are so many different anti-acne drugs and medications out there that I decided to organize some information about the most popular choices on one page of my Acne Treatment Journal site.

Each drug has it’s own information page that includes any personal insight I might have to offer based upon my experiences using the medication.

The drugs are also split up into categories based upon their type such as “Retinoids”, “Antibiotics”, and “Topical”. The prescription medications are labeled with “Rx” and the over the counter products are marked with “OTC”.

Accutane FAQ

July 13th, 2008

Even though my Accutane Journal covers just about everything you could ever want to know about the drug, I created a FAQ page just for Accutane.

It includes answers to the most frequently asked questions about Accutane (a.k.a. Isotretinoin). Some of the topics touched upon include the temporary side effects, costs, results, generic brands, pregnancy precautions, and the long term effects.

Accutane Before & After Skin Pictures

July 11th, 2008

I never thought about creating this site when I was suffering with acne from 1997 through the present day. But luckily I was always taking pictures and my friends would turn the camera on me every so often.

To add some more useful information to my Accutane Journal, I created a separate page with pictures of my face from each of the 6 months that I was taking Isotretinoin (both the Sotret & Accutane brands).

I added comments in between each row of pictures to help you understand how the Isotretinoin was working at that point in my six month treatment. I also divided the photos into three categories: “Before Accutane”, “During”, and “After”.

My Accutane Journal

July 10th, 2008

I updated my Accutane Journal with more pictures and additional details about my 6 month experience with the very powerful anti-acne drug Isotretinoin.

In my Accutane Journal, I include the details of my first dermatologist appointment, the monthly liver tests, the two week initial break-out, the drug’s costs, patient precautions, the side effects and more.

If you’ve been prescribed the drug, I highly recommend you read my Accutane Journal for the best ways to cope with the side effects such as the dry eyes, dry lips, dandruff, and the increased sensitivity to the sun’s UV rays.

My Acne Journal Entries 1997-2007

July 8th, 2008

Now my Acne Journal entries include photos of my face from throughout the year to illustrate how the various products worked. My problem areas are my chin, cheek, forehead, and neck.

I added specific comments to the “My Skin Pictures” section to help you match up what’s happening with my skin as the year progresses and how they relate to what anti-acne medication or product I was experimenting with at the time.

USA Dermatologist Directory

July 7th, 2008

I updated the Dermatologist & Dermatology Clinic Directory with more listings for each of the 50 U.S. states. Even if you consider your acne to be “mild”, I still suggest that you see a dermatologist.

I spent years trying over the counter products without much success. Don’t make the same mistake that I did. Get some professional help from doctors who have access to a huge variety of prescription oral and topical medications.
